Mr. Jason MacRae
Growing up in central Ohio, Jason MacRae occasionally attended various Christian and Baptist churches with his family. He had heard the gospel story many times; however, it was not until Jason was 13 years of age that he personally accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour. On Mother’s Day in 2001, Jason’s mother and grandmother wanted the entire family to attend church with them. Grace Baptist Church of Delaware, Ohio, pastored by Hyles-Anderson College graduate, Dr. Corey Bane, was their choice, and they soon became members.
Jason gave his life to the Lord under the preaching of Dr. Jack Schaap after he unwillingly attended Youth Conference in 2002 at First Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana. During this three-day trip, his life would be forever changed. Returning home, he immediately became involved in the church and began preparing himself for Bible College. He responded to the great need for missionaries after hearing Dr. Doug Kalapp preach at Grace Baptist Church in the early spring of 2003.
In the fall of that same year, Jason enrolled at Hyles-Anderson College and began praying about where God would have him serve as a missionary. Through some specific circumstances, God confirmed in Jason’s heart that India was where God was calling him. In May of 2006, Jason began dating Lacey Young, the youngest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ray Young. A year later they both graduated from Hyles-Anderson, Jason receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Missions and Lacey her Master’s degree in Education. Shortly thereafter, he joined the staff at First Baptist Church as an intern, working with assistant pastor, Brother Ted Speer in the Chapel Ministry. On May 8, 2010, they were married by Dr. Jack Schaap at First Baptist in Hammond.
Three months later, the MacRaes left on deputation in preparation for the departure of the India Team. Over the next 15 months, the MacRaes were amazed again and again at God’s provision and protection on the road. At the end of November 2009, they returned to Hammond to begin working with the rest of the team in preparation for a ministry on the mission field. God began closing and opening doors simultaneously in India and the Philippines respectively, the team destined for India was staged in the Philippines. In early June of 2010, the MacRaes moved to the Philippines, where they are currently involved in many various ministries of International Baptist Church.
Both Bro. MacRae and his wife are important parts of our church. Mrs. MacRae is the pastor’s secretary and helps with music while Bro. MacRae works with youth, college students, and heavily in our discipleship program.
